I decided I wanted to live in a country that was safe, relatively cheap to live (on my police pension) property was available and represented good value, the people were friendly and the weather was warm for most of the year. Whilst surfing the net I came across property in North Cyprus. The country seemed to tick all the boxes…safe, cheap to buy, cheap to live…500 stg for all my yearly running costs!..a warm sea and Mediterranean climate. Soon I was on the plane for an Inspection visit.

I arrived at the airport and about 30 minutes later I was at the crossing point. The driver completed the visa for the North and soon after I arrived at the excellent Colony hotel in Kyrenia. I strolled down to the seafront and emerged into the lights of the harbour …that took my breath away. It was stunning. Families were out in the play area with their children. I noticed cars with keys in the ignition, that .wouldn’t happen in the UK.. . I really couldn’t believe it…it felt very safe indeed and it was warm. I sat down next to the sea and ordered something to eat…the staff were very polite, provided good service.

Next day I visited the sites and was impressed by the property that was on offer and what I could buy for my money.
I spoke to one of the owners of the company. He was very easy to talk to, no hard sell here. He had a vision for the company to be the best. I checked the company out, they owned the premises the company was housed in, had a white good franchise and a furniture showroom. This certainly provided that bit extra security.

I’ll have that one!…a property was bought. I knew I had done the right thing.

Paul, with a UK property portfolio, took the decision to invest in the Northern Cypriot market earlier this year as he considers it a safer place to put his money than many other European destinations, such as Spain.

Following the loss of his beloved wife, Paul and his two children aged 13 and 15 invested their money in two properties in Northern Cyprus. Paul’s mother-in-law has also made her own investment in Northern Cyprus, near to one of her son-in-laws properties.

Paul Kelly comments, “I am a real advocate for Northern Cyprus. As a family we aim to spend as much time as possible out here enjoying the excellent golf facilities, watersports and many of the fantastic restaurants and bars.”

Paul continues, “During the summer I book myself a one way ticket to the island to soak up the sun and sea. I have now been there for three long holidays and have always found the atmosphere very calm and the people very friendly.”
