About North Cyprus

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) covers an area of some 3,300km2 of the northern part of the island, lying 70km south of Turkey and 385km north of Egypt. sunshine graph

The main tourist development is set along the stunning northern coastline, offering miles of unspoilt beaches, backed by the impressive Kyrenia (Girne) mountain range; a mecca for walkers, which itself is studded with medieval castles and fortresses.
The flora and fauna of Northern Cyprus is also stunning. The wild flower displays in the Spring are spectacular, and over 38 species of orchid alone are found in the area. The island also falls between two great bird migration routes, one from western Russia southwards to East Africa and the other, the Balkan African route, making this a bird watcher's paradise.Bellapaise Abbey

The main population areas are the capital Nicosia (Lefkosa) which is on the 'green line' separating North from South Cyprus; Gazi Magusa (Famagusta), the main commercial port; Guzelyurt (Morphu) the centre of the island's citrus production; and Kyrenia (Girne) the undisputed gem of the tourism industry with its stunning harbour, Crusader castle, and Byzantine architecture.

Northern Cyprus is exceptionally good value, whether you intend to buy a property and live on the island or simply holidaying.

apartment and faunaProperty prices are currently very low, but experts are anticipating a boom so the time to invest is now.

The cost of living is also very low, particularly in comparison to many other parts of the Mediterranean. An average sized apartment's utility bills for electricity and water are usually around the £200 mark; supermarket shopping for local goods extremely good value, with alcohol and cigarettes exceptionally cheap. map
